My site is constantly getting spam comments that need deleting. I was wondering if inserting some referral code into the Movable Type comment.cgi would help make sure that a comment request was actually coming from my site and not from some bot making random requests to the comment file. Any ideas? Seems like it could be a simple solution.
[ Posted 09:52 AM 10/11/2005 ]Sounds like I need to upgrade then, currently on v3.14. I did look into that "fuzzy photo" plug-in and decided that it was simple, but still more than I want to do at the time. Perhaps I'll use that photo password plug-in if I still have problems after upgrading.

You could implement one of those "type the word you see in the fuzzy photo" things that pretty much ensures that it's a human who's commenting on your site.
Check out this plug-in that does it:

However, if you haven't upgraded to MT 3.2 you should do so, I've had two spam messages I've had to moderate since installing it, it's very good at catching spam.
